Observing Log for Mike Durkin
3/22/2025 about 1:00AM-2:00AM
Locust Valley, NY
Transparency: 6-9/10, Seeing 4/5
Temperature: 35-40 degrees
Equipment: Hutech modified Canon T3i
DSLR Photometry of T CrB. The sky started out this evening
looking very clear. However near the end of my session, some thin
clouds from the west started moving in, but I think I got my
light frames in before the clouds could interfere. Also I did
20 second light frames, which I think is shorter than other
sessions of T CrB because 30 seconds would start to saturate
the brightest comparison star I use. Hopefully this won't be
an issue with the faintest.

Locust Valley, NY

DSLR photometry of γ Cas, κ Cas, ρ Cas, ε Aur, V960 Tau, and V694 Mon. Also
visual measurement of α Ori. This is the first time I am trying to take measurements of V694 Mon
and V960 Tau.

Temperature: 30-40 degrees

At Walt Whitman Mall. Mercury was supposed to be realtively close to Venus, maybe within 5 degrees.
After eating dinner went out to the parking lot to look. Pretty sure I did see Mercury although it
did seem to twinkle more than I expected, perhaps because it was so low to the horizon.
3/2/2025 about 2:00-3:00AM
Locust Valley, NY
Transparency: 9/10, Seeing 3/5
Temperature: 20-25 degrees
Equipment: Hutech modified Canon T3i
Stared up a bit late for DSLR photometry of T CrB. It was a little
more windy than I would like. There was also some scattered clouds
that was in some of the frames, so I took 20 total light frames
instead of the usual 15.
