Observing Log for Mike Durkin10/30/2005 8:30PM-11:30PM Oyster Bay, NY Transparency: 9/10, seeing: 3/10 Celestron Ultima 8 PEC This was the best day to observe Mars around the opposition. I went out to Oyster Bay and to observe Mars and hopefully get some pictures as well. The seeing this night was pretty bad, althuogh I did have occasional glimpses of Mars every so often. initially I was able to make out Mare Cimmerium. Later on in the evening I was able to make out Syrtis Major as it rotated into view. I took some images with my Nikon digital camera. You can see the image here.
