Observing Log for Mike Durkin
1/23/2014 about 9:00PM-2:00AM
Locust Valley, NY
Transparency: 8/10, Seeing 3/5
Temperature: about 10-20 degrees
Equipment: Hutech modified Canon Rebel T3i and 127mm Mak
DSLR photometry of ρ Cas, γ Cas, κ Cas, X Per, and ε Aur. This evening was a bit
tough because the boiler was on the fritz and I had to wait for a repair man to come by.
Later on in the evening, I was able to observe SN 2014J in M82. It was a little tricky because
I had to use averted vision, and I had to distinguish it from the bacground galaxy.
