Observing Log for Mike Durkin

11/29/2008 about noon
Locust Valley, NY
Transparency: 7/10, Seeing ??/5
Temperature: about 30-40 degrees
Equipment: Coronado Hydrogen Alpha PST

Another chance to do some solar observing.
This time I saw 2 noticable prominences. There was also some small filaments in the northern part of the solar disk.
After that I tried taking a few pictures with my Nikon Coolpix. Even though I was ablw to get the disk of the sun on the LCD display, I was never able to get the image to focus. A dark shroud or something to cover my head when looking at the display would probably help.

Transparency: 7/10, Seeing 4/5
Temperature: about 30 degrees
Equipment: Coronado Hydrogen Alpha PST

It was cold, but I havent done any observing in a while and I was itching to do something, so I took out the PST and my camera tripod.
There was only one significant prominence to be seen. I looked at the disk for any filaments, but there wasn't anything significant. There were a couple of spots that I thought might have matched up with some sunspots, but when I checked the SOHO site, there weren't any active regions. I guess the sun us still in it's inactive period.
