Observing Log for Mike Durkin
3/6/2010 8:00PM-1:00AM
Locust Valley, NY
Transparency: 9/10, Seeing 3/5
Temperature: about 35 degrees
Equipment: Celestron Ultima 8 with PEC, Stellarvue 70mm ED, Hutech Modified Canon Rebel XT
I wanted to image M81 and M82 tonight since that was able to fit into the field of view
of the SV 70mm.
First I played around with a software program DSI-WCS to test out polar alignment. My initial reaction
is that it seems to work pretty well, but I"m stil trying to get the hang of it.
Then trying to find M81 and M82 was a major pain. After a long time trying to get the right field of
view in the scope, I finally found it and took some images. The results are below:
|
Telescope: Stellarvue SV70
Camera: Hutech modified Canon Rebel DSLR
Location: Locust Valley, NY
Exposure: 30x30 second images stacked. 30 dark frames subtracted.
ISO: 1600
Processed with MaxDSLR and Photoshop.
No guiding was used.
