Observing Log for Mike Durkin

2/26-27/22 about 10:00PM-12:30AM
Locust Valley, NY
Transparency: 8/10, Seeing 4/5
Temperature: 30-35
Equipment: Meade 16 inch Lightbridge

M81, M82 and NGC 3077: Did not see any spiral structure on M81, maybe maybe a hint of part of an arm near one of the foreground stars. M82 was very mottled looking. NGC 3077 was just a hint of a small galaxy.
M67
M65, M66, and NGC 3628. May have just glimpsed NGC 3628.
M105, NGC 3384, and NGC 3389: M105 and NGC 3384 was readily visible. Just barely detected NGC 3389.
M96
M51 and NGC 5159 (Whirlpool galaxy): The nucleus of both galaxies easily visible. No arms detected, but maybe a little bit of extended core for M51.
M101 and NGC 5455: could not see the core of M101. None of the NGC objects in the galaxy were clearly visible, although I might have just barely detected NGC 5455, although it is very uncertain.

2/20/22 about 10:00PM-12:00AM
Locust Valley, NY
Transparency: 9/10, Seeing ?/5
Temperature: 25-35
Equipment: 70mm Stellarvue

Visual measurements of variable stars R Aur, X Aur, S Aur, R CMi, and Z UMa.

2/18/22 about 10:30PM-12:00AM
Locust Valley, NY
Transparency: 9/10, Seeing 4/5
Temperature: 20-30
Equipment: 10x50 binoculars

Visual measurements of W Ori, α Ori, η Gem, BU Gem, X Cnc, and RS Cnc.
Also tried to observe NGC 2244, the cluster in the middle of the Rosette nebula. I was only able to make out about 2 stars.
I also tried to see if I could detect the Ghost of Jupter planeetary nebula since it is about 7th magnitude and seemed possible to see in binoculars. But it maybe it was too low in the sky and the sky was too bright, since I didn't see it.
