Observing Log for Mike Durkin

7/30/22 about 10:00PM-11:30PM
Oyster Bay, NY
Transparency: 9/10, Seeing 3/5
Temperature: 65-75
Equipment: 10x50 binoculars

Hanging out in Oyster Bay.
Although too many trees for great observing, I took the binoculars out after some one suggested that it would be nice to see what is in the sky sine it looked so clear. The home owner turned off the lights to help.
I am pretty sure I saw some satellites. Once may beven be one that was rotating or something like that because it seemed to brighten and fade every couple of seconds. I do not think most of these were airplanes since I could not see any blinking lights.
Saw M13, not too hard to see, but also easy to confuse with a star.
I pointed out the Summer Triangle
I also showed how to star hop to the Coathanger cluster.
And just before I wrapped for the night I waas able to make out the Dumbbell nebula in my binoculars. It wasn't impressive enough to show off, and similarly to M13, it was immediately obvious that it was not a star.
