Observing Log for Mike Durkin
3/28/2009 about 2:00-3:00PM
Locust Valley, NY
Transparency: 7/10, Seeing 4/5
Temperature: about 50 degrees
Equipment: Coronado Hydrogen Alpha PST
First I tried to see if I could make any use of the binoviewers. I set up the binoviewer along
with a pair of 30mm eyepieces. I was not able to get the image to focus. I also tried with
a barlow, but that would not work either.
So I saw quite a few prominances on the edges of the disk, although none were too big. After
tweaking with the tuning circle on the PST, I noticed that there seemed to be an active region
on the bottom(northern) part of the disk.
The sky then got very hazy, so even though I was able to see the Sun, it made looking for details
in the PST a little difficult.
