Despite the nearly full moon, I decided to do some observing.
I observced the moon first.
Then M42. I was able to easily resolve the Trapezium with the 7.4mm(57x) eyepiece.
I looked at ε Aur and R Ari to measure the magnitude. R Ari was just at the limit
of what I was able to see with the full moon. Very roughly it was at 8.8, give or
take a few tenths of magnitude.
Looked at M35 in Gemeni. I tried to find NGC 2129 in the same area, however I was not able to distinguish
it from a couple stars.
I noticed Mars rising in the east. With my 17mm and 5x barlow (124x) I was able to make out
a small disk, and possibly some dark markings on the surface.
Also saw M44 with 30mm(14x) eyepiece and M67 with my 7.4mm(57x) eyepiece. M67 was kind of hard to make out
some of the fainter stars, which seemed like a haze.

Not too much detail to see. A small to medium prominence on the northwestern edge.
I also saw two small dark spots on the southern part of the disk.
I also tried to see if I could take a picture with my iPhone, but the disk was too bright.

Today was a good night for Some astrophotos
First time I used the DSI as an autoguider. Seems much easier to find guidestars compared
to using the webcam.
I took some images of M31, then the Double Cluster in Perseus:

Observered a couple of variable stars (R And, ε Aur, &gamma Cas). As I was
trying to get a magnitude estimate of V Cas, clouds started to roll in.
I also observed M31, M42, Betelgeuse, and the moon.
M42 looked nice in the 70mm with the 30mm eyepiece.
I was glad to also catch the moon in a phase that I usually don't see it in, close to
third quarter. There were a couple of craters on the terminator that showed a nice
central peak.
