Observing Log for Mike Durkin

5/21/2023 about 9:30-10:00PM
Locust Valley, NY
Transparency: 6/10, Seeing 3/5
Temperature: 55-65 degrees
Equipment: Stellarvue 70mm refractor

Observed the thin crescent moon, close to 6% illuminated. It was low to the horizon and I could only just start to make out some craters on the light side.
Venus - with the 6.7mm eyepiece it looked about 50% illuminated, although turbulent seeing with some chromatic abberations.
After that I tried to observe SS Vir, however the sky seemed to be too bright or maybe not that transparent even though no obvious signs of thin clouds.
