Observing Log for Mike Durkin

9/29/2013 about 8:00PM-11:00PM
Locust Valley, NY
Transparency: 9/10, Seeing 3/5
Temperature: about 50-60 degrees
Equipment: Hutech modified Canon Rebel XT and Stellatvue 70mm refractor

Started with DSLR photometry of AC Her and P Cyg.
Then did visual measurements of Nova Del 2013, CT Del, S Del and T Del.
The cats were out and trying to get my attention a few times during the evening.

9/28/2013 about 9:00PM-12:00AM
Locust Valley, NY
Transparency: 8/10, Seeing 4/5
Temperature: about 55-65 degrees
Equipment: Hutech modified Canon Rebel XT

DSLR photometry of P Cyg and going back to try R Lyr to compare with
another AAVSO user who has been taking a lot of measurements recently.
I want to see if using a DSLR on an M star such as this can still
obtain good values.
I also had to wait out some clouds at one point. I was originally trying for
AC Her, but had to scrap due to early clouds.

9/28/2013 about 7:30-8:30PM
Theodore Roosevelt Nature Center, Jones Beach, NY
Transparency: 9/10, Seeing 3/5
Temperature: about 60-70 degrees
Equipment: non brought, briefly used one of AOS club scopes.

Took the computer that I am donating to Jones Beach.
Before I left, Lily and I looked at M22 though one of the AOS telescopes there. After
focusing it looked rather nice, although Lily had some trouble focusing on it.

9/24/2013 about 7:30PM-9:00PM
Highline Park, Chelsea, NYC
Transparency: 9/10, Seeing 3/5
Temperature: about 60-70 degrees
Equipment: non taken.

AAA doing another public session on the Highline by work. Took a quick look at
Venus through one of their scopes, but it was very poos since it was so low
to the horizon.
I found another AOS mem who was there with a small refractor. Looked at Polaris
and was able to split with the binary companion. Also too a look at the Coathanger
cluster.

9/22/2013 about 8:00PM-11:00PM
Locust Valley, NY
Transparency: 8/10, Seeing 4/5
Temperature: about 55-65 degrees
Equipment: Hutech modified Canon Rebel XT

DSLR photometry of κ Oph, AC Her, and P Cyg.

9/20/2013 about 11:00PM-3:00AM
Locust Valley, NY
Transparency: 7/10, Seeing 4/5
Temperature: about 60-70 degrees
Equipment: Hutech modified Canon Rebel XT

DSLR photometry of P Cyg, ρ Cas, and γ Cas. The moon was full and
very bright. I also had some period of scattered clouds, and my images of
γ Cas may not be too good if there are faint wispy clouds in the image.

9/14/2013 about 10:00PM-11:30PM
Locust Valley, NY
Transparency: 8/10, Seeing 3/5
Temperature: about 55-65 degrees
Equipment: Hutech modified Canon Rebel XT

DSLR photography of P Cyg and AC Her

9/13/2013 about 11:30PM-3:00AM
Locust Valley, NY
Transparency: 6/10, Seeing 3/5
Temperature: about 55-65 degrees
Equipment: Hutech modified Canon Rebel XT

DSLR photography of P Cyg and γ Cas
However there were scattered clouds, so hopefully it did not impact my measurements
too much

9/2/2013 about 9:00PM-12:00AM
Locust Valley, NY
Transparency: ?/10, Seeing ?/5
Temperature: about ?? degrees
Equipment: Hutech modified Canon Rebel XT

DSLR Photometry of P Cyg, AC Her, and Nova Del 2013. However I am not sure that any result fro the
nova is valid because it has such a strong hydrogen α line, which I think will skew the
results.
