I was going to do Z UMa as well, but the clouds finally came in.
4/23/16 about 9:00-11:00PM
Locust Valley, NY
Transparency: 9/10, Seeing 2-3/5
Temperature: 50-60 degrees
Equipment: Hutech modified Canon Rebel T3i and Stellarvue 70mm refractor
DSLR photometry of ε Aur, ε Leo and Y Lyn.
I was also going to try to do Z UMa again to see if my color corrections would make it a little
more accurate, but I heard a couple of animals fighting again so I skipped it.
4/17/16 about 8:30-11:00PM
Locust Valley, NY
Transparency: 8-9/10, Seeing 3/5
Temperature: 50-60 degrees
Equipment: Hutech modified Canon Rebel T3i and Stellarvue 70mm refractor
DSLR photometry of ε Aur.
Visual measurements of α Ori, η Gem, RS Aur, X Aur and Z UMa.
Also took a look at Jupiter and the moon with the Stellarvue before I finished up. With the 17mm
eyepiece, could easily see that there were 3 or 4 moons, including 2 that were fairly distant from
the planet.
On the moon, the main feature seen was creater Gassendi, which was on the terminator
and had part of it's central peak illuminated. Sinus Iridium was also prominent.
