Observing Log for Mike Durkin

1/18/2016 about 6:30PM-8:30PM
Locust Valley, NY
Transparency: 6/10, Seeing 2-3/5
Temperature: about 15-25 degrees
Equipment: 10x50 binoculars and Canon T3i DSLR

A nasty cold day and also very windy.
Some DSLR photometry of P Cyg, γ Cas, κ Cas and ρ Cas. Because of cloud conditions, I took a bunch of extra images, especially for P Cyg. For P Cyg, I very likely do not have enough frames for my usual measurement (30), I just hope I have enough for half that. For the Cassiopeia stars, I shuold have enough.
Also visually measured T Cet, TV Psc and W Ori.

A quick DSLR photometry measurement of P Cyg.
Then after a break I decided to image part of Auriga that has nebulae. I was originally thinking of using the 8 inch, but we got back home a little late and there were clouds originally.

Finally get to do some observing. This whole week I have been off from work, but the sky has been terrible every day until now.
DSLR photometry of γ Cas, κ Cas, ρ Cas, X Per, ε Aur and PU Aur.
Visual observations of α Ori and η Gem.
I also noticed a very bright meteor around 11:10PM. It started around Orion's belt and went directly down towards the horizon. It seemed to be white, maybe magnitude -2 to -5 and was very slow moving.
