3/6/16 about 6:00PM-9:00PM
Berliner Hall, Hofstra Univeristy, Hempstead, NY
Transparency: 8/10, Seeing 3/5
Temperature: 35-45 degrees
Equipment: 11 inch Celestron SCT with GPS.
Public outreach seassion at Hofstra University on the roof of Berliner Hall.
Professor Lubovich had me point one of the Hofstra 11 inch telescopes at the
double star h3945 CMa (145 CMa, also known as the winter Albereo. The colors looked
orange-yellow and blueish, although it wasn't quite as impressive as the real Albereo.
That might have been because the star was a bit low in the sky.
Also during the night I looked at Jupiter and M42. There were a couple of attendees
that liked that.
I would say that about 20-40 people came to look through my scope.
